100 Hours of Play - Take the Challenge! February 15 2013, 0 Comments

100hoursI recently learned that the Boston Children's Museum is turning 100 and to celebrate the occasion, they are launching the “power of play” initiative – kudos to them!  They’ve issued a challenge for families to spend at least 100 hours this year of unstructured play which seems perfectly reasonable at 2 hours/week.  I thought I’d take the challenge which admittedly is harder in practice than I thought – eating, naps, TV, and negotiating takes up quite a bit of time!  Luckily, the museum published a list of 100+ ideas which parents and kids can enjoy together which you can find here: http://www.bostonchildrensmuseum.org/learning-resources/100-activities My absolute favorite….filling spray bottles with water and some food coloring and “painting” the snow – see our lovely blue snowman to the left!
